"blue" notes arise naturally from the harmonic series
Charlie Patton 1891 - 1934 was one of the great early
blues artists. Two of his performances and thirteen more
by other prominent early blues performers had their
"blue" notes carefully measured with respect to their
tonic tones. 1,101 such notes were statistically evaluated
using cluster analysis to find the center of the blue notes.
